Image Disney may be pulling a Microsoft Xbox One style comeback with Star Wars, where they realize their mistakes and start making attempts to rectify them for the fans. That being said, as long as sequels remain canon I do not think they'll ever have fans on their side. They can try and explain them into being accepted the way Clone Wars did with the prequels, but the difference is the prequels at their core had cool ideas and lore that were just poorly executed.
